Reservoir Dogs

Firstly, what an absolute stunning picture of today's race from Graeme Slight of Huncote Harriers. Undulations on races always make for some great vantage points for the photographers, even if for the runners it can represent an exceptionally tough moment. It was an early morning for our League racers as we gathered at South Charnwood High School, but happily this year our medical provision had arrived without due haste and we were able to ensure the early morning meant the early start could take place, without the delays experienced last year. Autumn marathon season is seeing our race attendances take something of a hit as the season draws to a close, today's competition being the Vitality London 10,000 and the Robin Hood Half Marathon, but we still saw 453 finishers (291M, 162F) on course. With the League's dominant force Matt Scarsbrook not present, the opportunity for a race win today was wide open and it was Alex Adie of Desford Striders who grasped the nettle and grabbed himself a first race win of the year, finishing nearly 60 seconds ahead of his competition in a dominant time of 33:04. Following Adie in second place was Michael Cheverton of Barrow Runners, securing himself another podium finish for the year in 34:02, with Tom Hansen of Stilton Striders rounding the top three off just behind in 34:07. Ashleigh Howells of Birstall RC took her first ever LRRL race win in 37:57 in the female race, also winning by nearly a minute as she took the top spot ahead of OWLS' Ysabel Drewett who came second in 38:47. In a tight finish for second place, Drewett came out on top ahead of Rachel Nealon of Huncote Harriers who took third in 38:53. Our draft results for the day are available on the website here, and with it being a tight turnaround to our season finale at Rotherby next weekend, we'd like to get these results and tables finalised by Friday so please send any queries on the draft results to lrrlresults@gmail.com, where we will get it resolved ASAP. A huge thank you to our hosts for the day Beaumont RC, a great job completed with a very welcome, and popular, cake stall in the sports hall.
